Xanax XR 3 mg is used for the treatment of panic disorder and symptoms of anxiety related to panic disorder. Alprazolam is the main ingredient in Xanax, and this is an extended-release (XR) medicine. XR tablets are slowly released and remain effective for a longer duration in the human body.

This drug belongs to benzodiazepine medication. It acts on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a soothing effect.

It functions in such a way by improving a certain natural chemical in the body (GABA). GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a natural chemical in the brain.
