Overview

Provigil is a brand name of Modafinil medicine. This medicine is used in the treatment of excessive sleepiness which occurs due to narcolepsy, shift work disorder and sleep apnea in individuals. Sometimes, it is used for off-label label use to manage symptoms of ADHD. It was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on 24th December 1998.

The work of Provigil 100 mg medicine is to increase the dopamine level in the brain. This helps to reduce the symptoms of narcolepsy in individuals. In this way, an individual has the ability to wake up in the morning. It contains inactive ingredients such as povidone, croscarmellose sodium, pregelatinized starch, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose and lactose monohydrate. Provigil 100 mg tablet has a half-life of 12 to 15 hours.

Dosages:

Provigil 100 mg is the starting dose of Provigil medicine, which treats narcolepsy and other sleeping disorders in people. The form of this drug is oral tablet, which is recommended for adults only. They can also use Provigil 200 mg tablet if they are suffering from these problems.

Doctors are not recommending this medicine to children below 18 years of age. If any child is suffering from narcolepsy condition, then their parent or guardian must consult with the doctor in the treatment of this problem.

Uses of Provigil 100 mg:

Provigil 100 mg tablet is used in the treatment of narcolepsy conditions in individuals. A narcolepsy is a problem in which a person is not able to get proper sleep at night. The symptoms of this problem are sleep paralysis, cataplexy, hallucinations during sleeping etc. This drug is also used to treat the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) that occur in people.

Provigil medicine interacts with several medicinal drugs. Some of them are Dienogest, Benzhydrocodone, Ethinyl Estradiol, Larotrectinib, Zolpidem, Perampanel, Voclosporin, Venetoclax, Clobazam, Captaminib, Cobemetinib etc.

Note: This medicine must be stored at room temperature and keep this medicine in the safest place. Avoid placing this medicine in the refrigerator or bathroom.

If there is no proper use of Provigil 100 mg tablet, then it causes side effects in individuals. These are the following:

• Irregular heartbeat
• Dryness in mouth or skin
• Nausea
• Anxiety or depression
• Tightness or stiffness in muscle
• Change in vision or vision loss
• Skin redness, irritation or flushing
• Chest pain
• Heartburn
• Appetite loss

Precautions:

• It is important for any individual to take doctor’s prescription before taking this medicine.
• Blurred vision or dizziness is caused by Provigil 100 mg tablet in people. Therefore, a person should not drive a vehicle or perform other activities after taking this medicine.
• Avoid taking extra dosage strength of this medicine. A person can consult to a doctor if he or she accidentally missed the dose.
• Sharing this medicine with another person is strictly prohibited for any individual.
• The combination of a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine and Provigil medicine is also the best way for the treatment of narcolepsy. However, a person can also use a CPAP machine after taking this medicine.
• Taking this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding will become harmful for the unborn baby. Thus, women should not take Provigil 100 mg tablet when they are suffering from these problems.
• Drinking alcohol is strictly prohibited after taking this medicine.
• A person should stop taking this medicine when suffering from allergies and other diseases. Consult with a doctor if an individual suffers from these problems.
• When a person suffers from hallucination, chest pain, diarrhoea etc., after taking Provigil 100 mg tablet, then contact the doctor immediately.
• A person can take this medicine with food if suffering from stomach problems. It helps to reduce upset stomach that occurs in people.
• Avoid drinking fruit juice as well as beverages after taking Provigil 100 mg tablet since it increases the risk of side effects such as nervousness, anxiety etc., in individuals.
