Overview

Ativan is a prescription drug. This is a branded medicine that belongs to the group of drugs called benzodiazepines. Doctors recommend this drug when a patient is experiencing anxiety, seizures, and other psychological issues. It contains an active ingredient called lorazepam.

The Ativan 2 mg oral white tablet is highly effective for relieving symptoms of severe anxiety that often accompanies depression. Lorazepam is also used for treating anxiety disorder, as well as insomnia, which are caused due to anxiety or stress.

Ativan 2 mg is a strong medication that will produce a calming effect on the nerves by increasing the effect of GABA (a neurotransmitter that produces a calming effect in the brain).

2. Seizures

Focal onset seizures –

Focal onset seizures are divided into two types, which are focal aware seizures and focal awareness-impaired seizures. The focal onset seizures usually occur in the small area of the individual’s brain like single lobe, but can affect in the large area also.

Generalized onset seizures –

The common types of generalized onset seizures are Tonic, Clonic, Tonic-Clonic seizure, Myoclonic, Absence and Atonic. These seizures start in both sides of the patient’s brain at the same time.
